Logan Dance Club By-Laws Name & Purpose of the Club 1.The official name of the club is "Logan Dance Club." The primary purpose of the club is to provide four (4) dinner and dance events per year for fun-loving couples who enjoy going out together, having a nice dinner, socializing with old and new friends, and dancing the night away. Membership 2. Membership is limited to 75 couples residing in the Cache Valley Area. Any more than this number presents a problem in finding facilities large enough to host our events. If a member in good standing dies & the surviving spouse desires to remain a member, s/he may do so upon payment of half the annual dues required for a couple. 3. Proposals for new members shall be submitted in writing to the President. Upon favorable action of the Planning Committee, applicants will be notified of their membership. Should the membership roster be full, a waiting list will be established and new members will be invited in order of length of time on the list. 4. Members who have consecutively maintained their membership for forty (40) years will be designated as Lifetime Members. They will pay a pro-rated membership fee which is currently set at $0.00. Dues & Late Fees 5. Membership dues will be set annually by the Planning Committee based on current food prices, facility rental fees and band prices. 6. Dues will be used for parties of the entire club membership only. Planning parties scheduled by the Planning Committee will be funded by the members of the Planning Committee. 7. Any member failing to pay dues by the first dance of the season, whether the member is in attendance or not, will be charged a late fee. If dues and late fees are not paid within 30 days of the first dance, the members may be dropped from the membership and such vacancy will be filled from the waiting list. Members may not attend a dance until full fees are paid. No refund of dues will be made if a member resigns. Guests 8. Dances shall be considered "for members only" however guests of members are welcomed and encouraged. Guest fees will be set annually by the Planning Committee during the budgeting process. Leave of Absence 9. Members may request a one-year leave of absence by submitting a written request to the President. A leave of absence will be granted for short-term moves (such as sabbaticals or temporary work assignments) or medical reasons. The Club runs on a yearly budget based on dues of active members, therefore we strive to have a full membership each year, so new members will be sought to fill the leave of absence. Members returning from a leave of absence are gladly welcomed back to the Club as long as the membership is not at full capacity. Planning Committee 10. Members of the Logan Dance Club shall take turns serving on the Planning Committee. Planning Committee members will be selected annually based on their tenure in the Club. The current Planning Committee will select the new Committee Members and announce/introduce them to the members at the December dance. 11. The Planning Committee shall consist of six (6) couples who serve a one year term.
12. Couples will serve first as a general committee member, second as a Secretary, and finally as the President. Once a couple has served in the role of President, they are not required to serve on the committee again. Couples will not be asked to serve on the Planning Committee in two consecutive years. Planning Committee members will pay full membership dues. 13. Planning Committee Responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to:
Beverage Service 14. Each dance will be held at a facility that has a Utah State liquor license and can provide all beverage services, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, at a cash bar. Beverages will not be included with the meal, members must purchase their own beverages from the host facility. The serious danger of driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol makes it everyone's responsibility to use a designated driver, when needed, for transportation to and from Dance Club events. Dance Arrangements 15. Logan Dance Club will host four (4) dinner/dances per year: one in the spring, one in the summer, one in the fall, and the final dance will be held in early December. Members must give an RSVP for themselves, and any guests, one (1) week prior to each dance. All dances will be held on a Saturday night. Each dance will follow the schedule below:
16. Each of the first three dances will have a specific theme. Wearing theme-related attire to each dance is encouraged, however it is not required. Prizes for the best theme-related attire are usually awarded at each dance, based on budget availability. The attire for the final dance in December is required to be semi-formal or formal. 17. Live bands shall be hired to play fun dance music for all dances. It is an option for the planning committee to hire a live DJ for a maximum of one dance per year, if budget constraints are a problem. Bands and DJs will play popular dance music from the 1970's through today's current hits.
